Hey,
I dont know if this is in the right section,
but I'm currently doing a university assignment on Joe Lydon and I'm just wondering what are your favourite memories of Joe?

Saturday's elimination play-off between Wigan and Warrington promises to be a classic - just like past confrontations between the two clubs.
Wigan have often dominated the match-ups between the pair.
But had Warrington had luck on their side on two memorable occasions, the history of the two clubs could have been very different.
DATE: January 1989
VENUE: Maine Road, Manchester
OCCASION: Challenge Cup semi-final
Wigan went into the match as favourites, having won the Challenge Cup the year before against Halifax.
But Warrington had some class players in their side, too.
Lydon's drop goal is one of the most famous in rugby league
They had flown back Aussie imports Les Boyd and Steve Roach, had the talismanic John Woods playing in the backs, and a young second row forward by the name of Paul Cullen.
The now Warrington coach remembers the match well.
"It was a tough game," he says. "But at 6-6 we were controlling it. Then came the drop goal."
That drop goal is arguably the most famous one-pointer in the history of rugby league.
From 60 yards, Joe Lydon steadied himself before slamming the ball through the sticks to give Wigan the lead.
"I just shut my eyes and hit it," Lydon has since reminisced. "And every year that goes by, it gets a few yards longer."
It may have been only one point but it broke Warrington's hearts and took the fight out of their game.
A late Ellery Hanley try made for a more comfortable looking 13-6 final scoreline - and Wigan went on to tot up eight consecutive Challenge Cup final victories.

 Re: Memories of Joe Lydon
Few would argue with the drop goal, but my first sight of Joe was at Wembley in 1984 when Widnes beat Wigan, and a certain Joe Lydon scored twice for the Chemics. He was so good his home town club signed him shortly afterwards.
My other memory is a try at Old Trafford in the Premiership knockout final in 1985. A very wet day but Joe hacked a loose ball forward from his own half, kicked it twice more and just managed to grab it and slide over the line to score the decisive (and only) try.

A naturally fast centre who could break from nowhere and knew where the try line was.

 Re: Memories of Joe Lydon
A striking memory was at Wembley versus Halifax... was too young to remember but have seen several times on tape. His break from a kick off, his long run to set-up Hanley's iconic try.
I've seen it all! I've seen 8-in-a-row, I've seen us be on top of the world v Penrith, I've seen Offiah score ten, and Edwards, I've seen us beat Bath, I've seen Paul's drop-out try, I've seen Offiah run down the wing, I've seen Tuigamala ruin a defence, I've seen 106, I've seen Calderwood and 31-30, I've seen 27-0, I've seen the last day at Central Park, I've seen Wembley '94, I've seen Thrum Hall in the snow, I've seen us take on the Aussie Might, I've seen Hanley and them all, I've seen 25,004, I've seen Renouf to Rads, I've seen the annual Old Trafford add-ons, I've seen Botica kick the goal, I've seen Robinson score the try, I've seen Super Kel, I've seen me and my sister alone in the Kop catching conversions, I've seen Monie and West, Gregory and the rest, I've seen "Saturday Night at the Movies", I've seen a ginger kid teaching my class rugby at primary school turn into a Wigan legend, I've seen Lydon's drop goal, I've seen Wigan and Bath, I've seen it all! I saw History being made. Wigan Rugby since 1984.

 Re: Memories of Joe Lydon
The Halifax final was a great performance as AnL said the break was class and Lydon in full flight was great to see.
Even in the 84 final against us it was one of the moments you never forget, even if on that day for the wrong reason.
Another such moment was against the Ausies at Old Traford, we were well beaten but Lydon scored a long range effort down GB left, his shirt bloody and muddy and I seem to remember a bandage round his head great try.
Final one is left to words think it was against Halifax when he said to Monie snatching a score to win the match.........
"It's never over until the fat center scores!!"
If it wasn't for bad luck I would have no luck at all ,....... well at least I was not brought up to support saints
