Re: Lessons From Football

perhaps we could do a half way house as i am sure that most clubs wouldnt want to lose the current £1.7m they get from sky, but if they received some of it and the rest went into the prize pot, then at least there are rewards on the pitch for performance and we put emphasis on the clubs to do marke...

Re: Brace myself for a slagging dropping crowd

Sorry to adopt a “when I were a lad” attitude but in prehistoric times before Superleague we had the County Cups, and the John Player Trophy in addition to the Challenge Cup all of which kept the “pot boiling” throughout the season. If you got knocked out of one, there was another round the corner ...

And so yet again the clueless Mrs May will bring the bill back to be voted down again in June, how many times do we have to go through this Latest news/rumour is Labour might abstain which would see it pass. An abstention would lead to the bill getting a second reading, with the key vote effectively...

Re: Why is the NRL so much better?

I admit I simplified things by mentioning fat Billy and the taking part attitude, but you have gone on to prove my main point about it being society and culture that holds a lot of the blame. Many of our youngsters are often spoon fed through early life and when things don't go their way they drop ...

Re: Lessons From Football

The title race in soccer was immense. It boiled down to 14 cup finals as neither team could afford to drop a point. In various discussions we often see it mentioned the notion everyone has to be a winner in school sports is detrimental. Well the playoffs are the equivalent. The whole idea is designe...

Re: Why we will be worse off through Brexit (Question from other forum)

I don't think a republican majority is the main factor. Since joining the EU, Eire has been transformed from a poor, backward-looking religion-dominated state, to a rich, modern one. As the UK seems to be heading in the opposite direction (RoI is already ahead of us on per capita income), and as re...

Re: Leeds fail in incredible move to try re-sign Danny McGuire

We should not laught too much. It's pretty obvious in the McGuire, Burrow and Sinfield era Leeds managed to keep hold of these and a few other very good SL standard players not losing them to the NRL or RU unlike the disruption we saw. But it is now also obvious they had as much idea as to how to r...

Re: Why we will be worse off through Brexit (Question from other forum)

Come 2023 I've thought for some time that the republicans in N. Ireland will push for a referendum on unification. With it being 100 years since the 26 counties broke from the UK the political will and emotion generated will bring a demand for a referendum. They reckon the in built British majority...

Re: Murdoch Massila

I'll just repeat on the rules, as there is a caveat that means the salary cap rules are not hard and fast as you seem to have interpreted DaveO. "The HDPGS shall then determine whether they should be included in a players Salary Cap Value" (HDPGS is the head of competitions and salary cap at RFL, S...
