Re: Bibby departs Wigan

Didn’t he score a decent try in a Grand Final on the wing, which could have been, had Hardaker kicked a goal, the winning try? He wasn’t that weak a link, compared with some, but he is now being reunited with his Salford coach, and so may feel more appreciated there. We should be looking to upgrade ...

Good luck to him. He put in a shift for us whenever called upon.

Re: “Surprise Signing”

I think Man of Steel is the wrong name for player of the year. I would like them to give an award to the hardest player each year. Back in the day, Eddie Szymala and Kurt Sorenson could have shared it between them most years. That may mean that McIllorum gets it every year till he retires, of course.

Re: POWELL!!

This is a thread specifically about Powell, so I am not sure people should be that surprised if people post a lot about Powell on it. Having watched the GF, it struck me that the 2 finalists have 5 hookers between them with a running game… I honestly can’t think of any other side that has a statue a...

Re: Ian Lenagan

Brilliant work - and tying up Field with little fuss was fabulous as well. I would also praise Peet again. These are professionals with high standards, who could easily have gone elsewhere. The regime Peet has installed is so good that they now see staying with us as a great career choice. We have s...

Re: 99 not out - our oldest fan?

I'm sure I recall a poster, could have been here or on RL Fans, talking about a female relative who'd seen the grandfather of one of the current team (Marshall?) playing for Wigan in the 1930s. Might even be the same person? Our Jose saw Tom Davies grandfather (or possible great grandfather) play i...

99 not out - our oldest fan?

I was thinking today about when to buy the season tickets for our group, and was chatting away with my auntie about it. She will be 99 next May, having gone to her first game when she was 8 (she astonishingly appears in the DVD they put together about our glorious history - sitting on a chair at the...

Re: POWELL!!

The beauty of the set up of a forum is that you don’t have to open a thread if you’re not interested in a topic. It was a good idea to have a thread just for Powell, as many of us have considered opinions on him as a player. If someone doesn’t want to read about Powell, then don’t open the topic. Or...

Re: POWELL!!

I think the point about Powell being popular because he makes the most of whatever talent he may possess makes sense. Similarly, Wane was a 13 who bulked up to be a prop and was obsessed with picking and signing manufactured props.
