Re: Wigan squad for Huddersfield (R11)

First half we need a bit more line speed, better discipline, better contact in the tackle. KR will try and move the ball around and offload so we need to close the space and be better in contact. Confident we'll see a better 1st half than last time we played them. I liked the option of O'Neil and Le...

Re: Wigan squad for Hull KR (R9)

I’d like to see Field just keep things really simple this week and sniff around the ball carriers to try and take any offloads or follow up breaks/half breaks. We made a few on Friday and we had guys like Faz backing up but there was no sign of Field. His biggest attribute for me in his time here h...

Re: Warrington v Saints

There was a 5 min spell starting when Dufty didn't get anywhere near a high ball and it looked like Saints would establish their usual stranglehold on the game and grind out the win through attrition, but credit to Wire (and probably Sam's coaching) they managed to pull themselves out of it and rack...

Re: Consistency of officiating

There are a lot of thoughtful comments in this thread so here are a few (hopefully thoughtful) reflections of my own: The thread is about 'consistency of officiating'. I've been watching the game for well over 60 years and inconsistency has always been an issue and I guess always will be - from Eri...

Re: Disciplinary

How is Byrne's worse than this? https://www.skysports.com/rugby-league/video/30998/13090468/this-is-another-big-call-st-helens-mark-percival-sees-red-for-fou l-play It's not. In fact Percival appears to jump up into the tackle adding force and the opposite of dipping into th etackle so it could be ...

Re: Options v Leigh

Looking forward to both Havard and Walters coming in when they are fit , both will really strengthen the 17 in different ways. Walters should bring a completely new dimension to our attack and I hope Field has been practicing following him around everywhere he goes he could cause havoc running off h...

Re: Smiths kicking

High hanging kick = more time for defenders to form a structured line and pressure the catcher, less opportunity for broken play counter attacking. More time for catcher to get into position. THe chase has to be good to make it effective otherwise it's a gift of easy metres for the catcher. Low grou...

Re: Injuries

Cooper hurt his knee around 5 mins before coming off. He was running the ball in , changes his line of run slightly and his knee just wobbles a bit then after the tackle he has a slight limp. He takes a few more runs in and makes a few tackles but you can see he's not quite right. It didn't look maj...

Re: Wigan vs Penrith

Back in the dim and distant past, well the 1980s before the Sky cameras, if there was a big game at Headingley my teenage sons and I would often go to stand in the South Stand to watch the game with no particular bias, other than always wanting Leeds to beat Stains, after one match as we were comin...

Re: Wigan vs Penrith

Re the last second no try. At the end of the BBC review after the game you get the clearest view that Field and Miski get their hands under the ball and keep it up. The ref had the bast view in this instance from anywhere and he gave it no try. Nothing controversial except that it was impossible to ...
