Re: Well done boys
Agree everybody played well today, but being hyper-critical I do worry that Harvie Hill may struggle against the Catalans pack. I would take the risk and put Havard in. Willie Isa went well enough after so long out. It was especially good to see the combination on our left side for the two Marshall ...

Re: Where's Cust?
One permutation which hasn't been tried is French at fullback and Field on the wing. But the more important point is the lack of a proper halfback partner has exposed Harry Smith's weaknesses. He's become a one trick pony with his high kicks - which he does well but too predictable. In today's condi...

Re: HullKR v Wigan CC match thread
I don't know how long ago, but wasn't the criteria for a red card whether the was intent to go high, as opposed to accidental or even reckless? The RL's version of zero tolerance is a paranoid reaction to the litigation on the concussion issue. The current policy is disproportionate and a return to ...

Re: Wigan V Leeds 12/05/23
A little unfair the criticism of Cust, who I thought was starting to make things happen, notwithstanding the intercept pass at the end. Most striking for me was the contrast between Austin's performance - he was all over the field creating play left and right - and our halves who are in fixed compar...

Re: Cade cust
In general it works best when you have your best players in their best positions. Field's most important attribute is his lightning speed - certainly not his ball-handling, when he often passes without looking - so he would best be deployed on the wing. He could be told to come into midfield on atta...

Re: Tonight's Match
Very boring game. Nearest thing to excitement was Cooper's high tackle which looked like it might have sparked a confrontation with his opponent - but then he got pulled off.
I know sometimes you have to grind out a win, but the lack of attacking flair was disappointing.

Re: England dealt Test series blow as 2023 series and Shaun Wane future in doubt
It was catastrophic because the tournament was set up for England to meet the winner of Australia versus NZ in the final by meeting a weaker side, I.e. Samoa or Tonga in their semi final. Failing to win that semi made the final a non-event, and surely an embarrassment that England can't beat an NRL ...

Re: England dealt Test series blow as 2023 series and Shaun Wane future in doubt
Mitigating circumstances certainly, but the bottom line is the failure to beat Samoa in the semi-final was a catastrophic result. Australia and New Zealand in the country for six weeks but neither got to play against England. Going for experienced but ageing players like McIlorum and Hall wasn't the...

Re: Great result for International game?
the NRL has clearly progressed the quality of the South Sea Island teams. I know this isnt the only or the ideal solution, but as a shorter term option, to give those nations a chance to embed their own competitions and start to produce their own players / improve their competition [/i][/i] But the...
