Re: Wigan vs Penrith

Could I make a comment, not to criticise anyone, but more a bit of advice from an owd mon who's been around for a while? I'm surprised how much of this thread is devoted to examination of refereeing decisions. I've said before that I clearly remember as an 13 or 14 year old (mid 60s), getting upset ...

Re: NRL Possibly to buy the Super League

"Let's imagine that the Roosters are faced with a scenario: we allow Joey Manu to go to French rugby or we let him go have a stint at Castleford," Johns explained. "It's an opportunity for players to really optimise their income while they're in the game.    :lol...

Re: Patrick Mago: Off-field improvements impacting on-field performances for Wigan Warriors prop

Interesting that he mentions church, like he's on the straight and narrow path again. Good for him. It makes me think of the many Christian players we've had, such as Inga, Billy Whizz, Bill Ashurst, Shaun Edwards. I'm sure that the direction from their faith helped some, at least, to be better play...

Re: WCC vs Penrith match thread

I'll be at my 5th WCC with my son who was 10 when we beat Manly, his wife from Perthshire, and my granddaughter Sophie who is 10 now. This will be her first WCC and only her 5th live game. She'll be devastated if we lose - here's hoping she comes home happy!

josie andrews wrote: Tue Feb 20, 2024 8:07 am Thought Gareth Carvell also tried to do something similar, a players union? Was that with Jon Wilkin?
I think that Garreth Carvell (a Morley lad, like Stevie Ward) was representative for the players' union run by the GMB. Not sure what happened to it.

Re: Player of the Match medal to honour Bill Ashurst

Very fitting and a great touch by the club once again. I wish King Bill was lining up in the Cherry and white. I agree, Chariots, but "King Bill" could surely only apply to one player? Bill Ashurst was "Sash" iirc. Btw, I went to school with Jim Brennan, a blond-haired lad from ...

Re: RFL Disciplinary

I never realized how many people deeply care about being able to see high tackles and retaining the exact punishment for them that we had last year. Things you learn. Glad Harry didn't get a ban. I didn't think he deserves on when Hooley clearly dives at the ground. What was Ellis supposed the be u...
