Re: Wigan squad for Hull FC
Shorrocks deserves better than to be benched. Given our rapidly deceasing number of props - Smithies to act as a new kind of mobile prop in an emergency? - Shorrocks to 13 - Powell to move into the forwards - Faz & KPP in the 2nd row and get O'Neill into hooker. (Cue outrage at playing a player...

Re: Player of the Month: April
Smith was great against Saints & Wire, but I'd have liked to see a bit more creativity in his display against Wakefield. Shorrocks has worked his socks off and been outstanding defensively but hasn't offered too much in attack, not unexpectedly as he isn't a half-back. Top marks for his effort a...

Exactly right!Wigan_forever1985 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 18, 2023 4:44 pm Complaining Mago isnt a 60min player is like complaining Jai Field cant play prop.
The measure of success for Mago is not how many minutes he plays its what he does with the minutes he does play
He's far from perfect, but I've never understood the anti-Mago bandwagon.

Re: Shorrocks
Our options certainly seem to have improved over the last few weeks notwithstanding the injury situation. Shorrocks has certainly impressed and I see no reason why he can't become a decent replacement for Bateman - maybe not quite as aggressive, but equally good a defender and with better ball skill...

Re: Rocky
From a young age Ryan always wanted to play at Wigan so I'm sure he'll absolutely relish this second chance as a more mature player. He didn't live up to his own and other people's expectations in his first spell but equally never let us down whenever he had his chances and when fully fit he certain...

Re: French Stays
Outstanding news and well done to all at the Warriors, and Bevan, for getting this done. Given that we've added one 'proper' centre to the mix for next season (is two too much to hope for?) then we really do have something to look forward to for 2023. Thanks too to those posters that have kept us up...

Re: POWELL!!
O’Neill’s fast and accurate distribution was great to get fast ball to Smithies / Smith to create that extra yard of space for Field to exploit. A slower, inaccurate pass from dummy half, which is inevitable with Powell, means our attack loses that sharpness. Changes needed This is the nub of it fo...

Re: POWELL!!
I think both Brad and Sam will be in the 17. After his period on the sidelines it would be too much to ask Powell to play 80 minutes, the same applies to Tommy. I can see all three interchanging at some point with experience looking to close out the game. I go for Brad to start against O’Connor. I ...

Re: POWELL!!
As it sounds from that article, that Powell is going straight back in, my reaction and opinions: - it looks very much like he is an automatic selection, and in his own mind Powell believes that he will play many more times for us. The tone of the article is very much - he’s first choice and will be...

Re: Player of the Season Award
Thanks for organising the poll - and for me, it's the perfect outcome.
In terms of future polls, I really like the idea of a Forward of the Year award as those guys deliver the hard yards to give a platform for the backs to shine and don't often get the accolades that they deserve.
