Re: 1997 World Club Championship - what really happened?
Not sure why the last two posts are so defensive. Really? Try this. The Guardian's coverage of league in this country has got thinner and thinner for some time now. They don't even bother with match reports any more, and their best writer on league (Andy Wilson) has gone. At the same time, the Guar...

Re: Robbie Mulhern set for Warrington Wolves exit after unsuccessful contract talks
Yeh, think we were in for him for this season. He has looked poor in a poor Wire side but still putting the effort in. With us signing Cooper and the youngsters developing I think it unlikely we'd go for him.

Re: Anyone watch Leigh v Fev on Premier Sports/Freesports?
I did, but the recording ran out 5 mins before the end
Hicks does make some strange calls at times.....twice the tackler didn't clear the ruck and kicked the ball away but he penalised the attack.
I enjoyed this game, some commited defence by both teams.

Re: Your opinion on past players
Didn't Tallis later recall in amazement that the "Pommy" took all his best shots and then remarked that his wife hit him harder? Firstly the fact that you can punch has little bearing on how good a player you are. I can find plenty of people down the gym who can win a fight against any of...

Re: 1997 World Club Championship - what really happened?
Not sure why the last two posts are so defensive. It was a mismatch, but I was proud that we did the best out of all the Euro sides. Defensive, because the article is attacking the sport and why now? Perhaps the traction from C4 and CC final is the reason. It was a punt and far too ambitious but wo...

Re: Your opinion on past players
My auntie always used to call Simon Haughton the blond bombshell. BJ Mather had an interesting career, the highlight of which (for me) was his wonderful tie in the World Club Challenge win in Brisbane, arguably our greatest victory. He was a massive Wigan fan, but also had union links, hence his cr...

Re: 1997 World Club Championship - what really happened?
Where the hell did this garbage come from, maybe confirms that the Guardian really is 25 years behind the times. Oh, and why pick the only action pic to be Offiah getting clotheslined - just what IS this all about. Classist, why shouldn't small town teams be part of an international comp. if this wa...
