I think one of our problems in attack has been a lack of ball playing forward.
Partington and Shorrocks have filled that previously and without it we are far too predictable, especially without a creative 9 in the team.
Close down Cust one side and Smith the other and we're so easily restricted.

Re: Wigan Squad for Salford
I think we're missing a creative 13 far more than has been mentioned. Without that extra player to straighten the defence up it makes us far to easy for the defence to slice across and defend the edges.

Re: Tonights Game v Catalans Dragons
I think there a pretty big OTT reaction to that defeat last night. Cats played very high completion and in defence they were really organised and aggressive on their line. In the wet it's hard to work the space on the outside so the focused on the middle. Saying that they made some great defensive p...

Re: Saints or Penrith
I don't think we should devalue Sts' nilling Penrith in the first half and taking a 10-0 lead. Both are at the same stage of the season. They haven't won yet, but it's usually the same story at the outcome of these games : When a English club win the Aussies weren't taking it seriously, when they wi...

Re: Rocky
He provides good experienced cover across a wide number of positions we are a little short in He probably comes pretty cheap on the SC. Matty Peet knows him well, and we know how focused he is on getting the right type of player in with the right attitude so I think I'd trust his judgement on this o...

Am I correct in thinking he's played allot of Union?
Would explain the tendency to kick.
Looks a promising player from what I've seen

Re: Batemans's departure confirmed
Wigan also retained Bevan French with an approach that many could see as 'soft' . Giving him plenty of time to make a decision, not put pressure on him etc. Many were calling for him to be told sign or go. If it had been a take it or leave it by this date I'm pretty certain he would be at Newcastle ...

Re: Batemans's departure confirmed
I think the important point is that Wigan received a supposedly decent fee for John. If it was a case of leaving for nothing then maybe they wouldn't have been so accommodating ? Player wants to leave, Australian partner who (probably) wants to go back home, probably won't be 100% focused, on marque...

Re: Batemans's departure confirmed
1) Time for KPP to start to move from potential to deliver more 80 min performances - which I think is a good point in his career to do this and now he gets the opportunity. 2) We finally have strength in the centres so less need for 2nd rows to go to the centre role consistently which has to be a s...

Re: England Vs Samoa
It was a really frustrating game. Our attack seemed really disorganised most of the game, when we did get Field position we panicked a little and just pushed it too far, execution was just off. I think it was telling that in a tough game we didn't have a experienced controlling half. Lomax would hav...
