RIP Bev Risman
23.11.1937 to 22.06.2023
I'm old enough to remember his Dad, the great Gus Risman! His other son John, wasn't too bad either!

Re: Hull FC v St Helens
Watching this game & the commentators especially Bill Arthur are so sickeningly biased towards Saints! He’s talking to Gareth Ellis & instead of speaking about how well Hull FC are playing & how far in front they are on the scoreboard, he’s saying “but it’s the saints”! As if no other c...

Re: Happy Birthday
It’s a shame to limit it to one memory. From the fifties I can just remember Ken Gee kicking for goal from just outside the 20 yard line and 10 yards from the touch line. Everyone in the stands expecting him to land short due to the water an old fashioned rugby ball absorbed ( it was like kicking a...

Re: Simply the best - Frank Malley
By coincidence I'm re-reading 'Simply the Best'.
The bit about Mission Impossible is incredible.
After the 1991 Cup semi-final they played EIGHT matches in 18 days!! Nearly a match every other day. AND they only dropped 1 point!!
"Simply the best" is an understatement!!

Happy Birthday Billy B
6th August 1934, William John Boston entered this world.
Just 8 years younger than Billy I saw him play at his best.
All the best Billy and I hope you reach 100! (and I'm still around to see it!)

Re: Cross Code Challenge v Bath 1996.
I have always been passionately anti-union, and have only ever seen 2 games: Bath v Wigan and a match at Morley RU (Morley v Rosslyn Park) which I left before half time, bored rigid. However, even I had some admiration for the Barth players who played in those games. (Guscott bottled it, saying it ...

Re: Dom Crosby - Strong Men
My wife was a Midwife and sometimes she had to deal with stillbirths and neonatal death. She was an active member of SANDS - Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Society so she (and I) had to deal with this. I lost my daughter when she was 18 and Dom is right - no parent should have to bury their child. We...

Re: Versus Salford
For what it's worth, here is my take on the last 2 matches and the season in general. Difficult first half of the season but then we improved ending at 2nd. I think that flattered us and realistically we should have been 5th or 6th if the likes of Wire, Cas and Hull had performed. So our expectatio...

Re: Waney
Great interview and my respect for Waney has increased because of this. Top bloke and totally honest. The only downside for me was his horrific account of the abuse he (and his brother) suffered at the hands of his sadistic bully of a father. These days he - the father - would be prosecuted by the N...
