Scapegoats through the years
Reading about current lead scapegoat Mr Powell and runner up Mr Smith made me think about the nature of scapegoating and previous players who’ve experienced it. Every player gets criticised, but scapegoating seems to involve constantly repeated criticism of the same things often with a personal edge...

Time to reassess Adrian Lam?
Mr Lam seems to be doing very well at Leigh, as he has when working “down under”. There doesn’t seem much love for him for his time coaching Wigan though. Was he a failure at Wigan or is that too harsh a judgment? If he was a failure was that just him or did Wigan not do right by him? I don’t know i...

Re: Simply the Best
Relevant at all levels….I can remember this song playing in 1992 when the team I played for won a trophy in a knockout competition. I’m sure there’s plenty of ex players at all levels that Tina’s song brings back lots of happy memories to.

Re: Wigan V Leeds 12/05/23
I could be over reacting here, but this team is reminiscent of some poor earlier Wigan teams ( thinking, for example, of George Fairbairns one man efforts to keep Wigan going). Like others of my age group, I was spoiled by watching the great Wigan teams of yore, but the current team seems a group of...

Re: Opinions on former players
Some of these players were not obviously in the limelight and were more “quietly effective” than spectacular. If I remember rightly, Neil Cowie had a storming game at second row against Wigan for his previous club (Oldham, Rochdale?) where he made our pack look a bit ordinary. Uncle Mo had a tendenc...

Re: Memorable Derby games
Well I might be a bit vague here, but my game was 1994 Boxing Day game at the scousers ground….I don’t remember the final score but we won. We took a huge lead into half time, even after Neil Cowie got his nose busted by Adam Fogerty. My memories are a bit random, and I’ve not been able able to find...

Re: Match Preview: Hull KR
Trying hard not to over react, as it’s only the first game of the season, but I agree with all the criticisms made. I think this is possibly the weakest pack of forwards I’ve ever seen playing for Wigan, and I’ve been watching since 1966! What really rubbed it in was seeing a scintillating performan...

Re: Green Vigo
Green Vigo brought us great joy at a time the club was in dire straits.
I hope he can receive recognition for his efforts and achievements.
