Re: Great result for International game?
I think the organization of the World Cup needs looking at after this. We have had a Kangaroo touring team in England for 6 weeks and we haven't seen even one contest between them and England - what a wasted opportunity! It should have been obvious before the start that Aus vs NZ would be the de-fa...

Re: Rugby League Heroes
A very interesting interview. Historians tend to emphasise his goalkicking, but he really was a potent attacking force. I remember in the 1970-1 season Wigan had two super fast wingers Keri Jones and Stuart Wright, but he had the edge on both of them - over 30 yards anyway. Not surprising he sideste...

Re: Bill Ashurst
What a fabulous player Bill Ashurst was! Big and strong, yet fast and agile. If you didn't see him, think of Andy Farrell and Andy Gregory combined. I never saw anybody execute a chip over the top and regather so expertly. Passing, long and short kicking, extravagant drop goals, powerful running and...

Re: Incredible Challenge Cup Final viewing figures revealed as Wigan Warriors and Huddersfield Giants deliver classic
While I agree the stadium is fabulous, I don't understand how it got planning consent without improving the access to it. Transport from central London is not at all straightforward, and the near two hour wait to get off the official coach park and get onto a main road was farcical. Wembley by cont...

Re: Wigan squad for Challenge Cup Final
You make some valid points Saint. As to the quality of the game, I would say the final was pretty typical of the game these days. Too much emphasis on completing sets of six and little attention to enterprising attacking play. The last big game where both finalists got the balance right was the Gran...

Re: New Wigan Rugby Magazine: Looking Back
Well done guys for this initiative. I hope you get enough interest to continue for the long term. We tend to take for granted that Wigan's history will be preserved forever, but we should be aware that books go out of print, and websites can be here today and gone tomorrow. I think your spotlight on...

Re: Wigan vs Saints
It was a terrific performance all round in my book. Fortuitous how the ball sat up for Marshy but wasn't that the laws of probability paying us back for a certain occurrence in2020? I think we should give praise where it's due for some classical centre play from Bibby for the first try - who knew he...

Re: Shaun Wane reveals he turned down significant offers to return to Wigan
Don't be confused by the "uptitling" that's been going on. Our new head coach is Shaun Wane. The only reason he's not called that is because he had to take a part time role in order to keep his England job. Peet has extra responsibility for shouting at the young guys on Wane's behalf but i...
