Down the bottom right of the screen where you see the message there is a button with the label "quote" on it directly to the right of the reply button.

Instead of hitting the reply button, hit the quote button and the entire text of the message you are replying to ends up quoted in the message reply window.

That is that I did to quote your message above. I then simply deleted the irrelevant bits because I am just replying to your question about how to do quotes and am not passing any comment on your preferred form of attire

Alternatively if you are already in the reply window there is a button down the bottom left, labelled quote that does the same thing.

If you break up a post into several bits to reply to then to make sure the different parts appear in quotes then select the text you want to appear in quotes and press the quote button that appears 4th button across below the subject line at the top of the message window.
This bit of text was quoted doing that.
All quoting does is put two tags at the start and end of the text, the word "quote" in square brackets (minus the quotation marks) followed by /quote in square brackets. So if your quoting goes a bit wrong you can simply edit the text to make sure the two tags match up i.e. an opening quote tag is always followed by closing /quote tag.

Thanks for that Dave, I'll give it a go next time I feel the need to draw attention to a quote.

Can someone tell me how to do quotes, as, like mrs feka I wish to make it unequivocally clear that I am referring to myself as a numpty and not the estimable mrs feka!!!

There are temporary bans in place but not many.
