My hero since I saw him play from 1964 - towards the end of his career, but still the best! A humble, good man too, encapsulating all that's best about our game. Best wishes and prayers for "King Bill".

Hope and pray that Billy B is OK.
If my memory is correct, I first saw him in 1955 when Wigan played Whitehaven.
Never forgot the impact he had.
And, he sent me a signed photo of himself scoring a try in the old Championship Final v Wakefield for my 70th birthday.
A true Legend and a giant among men in every way.

Is that the one you told me about?
Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

Let's hope he recovers fully.

Can't underestimate how important he was and is to the game. A black man in a white man's world who won over everyone by his talent, skill, attitude and demeanour on the field and who remained in the game as a true fan of his club.

It always gives me a lift to see him in the stands supporting his team.

Now let's make him really feel better by winning that GF.

Just seen the news via this thread - he's always been a real fighter through his entire career (he has had to for varying reasons) so very hopeful the character in the man will see him recover, sooner rather than later.
