Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

Best Wishes for a speedy recovery, a true legend of the game
I was going to buy a book called "The Power of Positive Thinking", and then I thought: What good would that do?

RL legend in hospital

WIGAN rugby league legend Billy Boston is in hospital after collapsing at home yesterday evening.

The 79-year-old former winger is currently a patient at Wigan Royal Albert Edward Infirmary and is said to be in a stable condition.

Boston signed for Wigan in the summer of 1953 from Tiger Bay rugby union for a fee of £3,000 and went on to write himself into Central Park folklore, scoring 479 tries in 487 appearances for the club.

He lifted the Challenge Cup three times and helped the Cherry and Whites to the league championship in 1960, contributing 35 tries to Wigan’s campaign.

Close friend and former Wigan player and coach, Colin Clarke, said: “He is in Wigan hospital and they have done some tests. According to his family he is quite comfortable at the moment.”

Boston was awarded the MBE in 1986 and in 2009 the East Stand at the DW Stadium was re-named in his honour.
