Register Now for Kit Design Competition

Post by josie andrews »

Wigan Warriors and Official Kit Partner Erreà are offering youngsters a unique opportunity to design the 2016 Wigan Warriors Academy Kit and win a trip to Italy to see it being made.

Wigan Warriors Academy, the junior teams of the Warriors, wear an alternative kit to that of the First Team with the first unique kit launched before Christmas ahead of the 2015 season.

The 2015 kit has already proved popular amongst fans and the Club are inviting Primary, Secondary Schools and Colleges to register their interest in entering a competition to design the 2016 kit.

Students will be asked to design a shirt and shorts for the Academy team. The kit will need to reflect the Wigan Club's traditional colours of Cherry and White however the weighting of these against other complimentary colours, as well as the design and detailing, is open for the students to be as creative as they like.

All of the entries received will be reviewed with a shortlist drawn up by a chosen panel of experts. The finalists will receive a good bag for their school in recognition of their entry before meeting the experts to discuss their design in a short ‘Dragons Den' style presentation outlining the background and rationale to their concepts and design.

The winning student will see their kit worn by the Warriors Academy in 2016 and also win an amazing trip to Parma, Italy for themselves and one parent or guardian to see their kit being created at the Erreà Headquarters and will attend the launch day as a special guest when the shirt is released to the public.

Marketing Director Simon Collinson said: "This is a truly amazing opportunity for a youngster to design the shirt for our junior teams to wear whilst also getting the chance to go and see the shirt being produced over in Italy. I'm already really excited about the designs that we are going to get and can't stress enough our gratitude to Erreà who are making all of this possible."

To register your school's interest to take part in the competition simply send an email to community@wiganwarriors.com expressing your interest. Emails must be received by 27/02/15.

Once the Club has received all emails we will distribute resource packs to each school which are designed to help students create an authentic and professional kit. The pack will include an instructional DVD with tips from the Warriors Marketing Director on what we look for in a kit as well as tips and information from professional kit designers at Erreà.

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan
