Post by josie andrews »

Rhodri Lloyd scored a hat-trick of tries for Swinton Lions on Saturday as they breezed past London Skolars 86-4 in the Challenge Cup third round. Rob Lever also played his part in the win coming off the bench to score a try for John Duffy's side who now await their fourth round opponents.

All 12 championship teams will join the next round of the Cup with amateurs Leigh Miners Rangers and Featherstone Lions also in the bag. The draw will take place at the Provident Stadium between 6:30pm and 6:45pm on Tuesday 10th March.

Loanee Jamie Doran was picked out for praise by Workington coach Phil Veivers after the young half-back made an impressive 42 tackles in their game against London Broncos. Doran was joined by dual-registration players Lewis Tierney, Connor Farrell and Logan Tomkins who were powerless to stop Town from going down to a 34-16 defeat to the Broncos. Farrell scored a try in the defeat that sees Workington sit ninth in the league table after just three games.

Elsewhere in the Championship, Leigh Centurions continued their 100% start to the season with a a 54-18 win over Doncaster. Leigh are the only team yet to taste defeat and are closely followed by Bradford Bulls, Sheffield Eagles and Featherstone Rovers who make up the top four, all with three wins from their first four games.

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan
