Home fixtures 2016

Why no home games from Friday 13 May to 8 July.8 weeks without a home game. Cant believe this is the doing of the RFL without a good reason- Is Whelan digging the pitch up again?

The pitch annually is repaired / reseeded etc etc. Far better than playing on a mud heap.

Is this included in our tenancy agreement that you are aware? Just wonder how far Latics have to drop before Whelan decides not to bother anymore?

If the pitch were to be re-laid at the end of each season, it would be understandable, but as the Latic's are no longer in the Premier League and no longer are require to do that, it unbelievable that it needs six weeks to do just remedial work like reseeding, re-turfing of touchlines etc.

Especially, when other Stadiums which are joint Rugby and Football Stadiums like the AJ Bell, Leigh Sports Village, John Smiths and KC stadiums etc do not seem to have the same kind of problem.

Even Headingley is used all the year round with both codes of Rugby and other Rugby League Stadiums have the reserve teams of Football clubs playing on them for extra income.

Headingley doesn't have the Duggie running alongside it!

The AJ Bell has the Manchester Ship Canal and the John Smiths the River Colne running alongside them.

The problem at Robin Park may have more to do with the fact that the Stadium was built on a refuse site and methane gas rather than being at the side of a River, especially when the River is at a lower level than the Stadium.

Thank you

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

Not that I know of. I think for all the reasons mentioned the DW needs to be carefully maintained. Relations are at their best for some time between both clubs, long may it continue.

Again without knowing precisely IL rightly pointed out that the RFL are in charge of fixtures and have to accommodate every club and other sports. Perhaps what we have is the best it can be.

I bet IL was annoyed at being given Catalans at home as the first home game. I imagine that is the ideal on the road London game for the club and they can't realistically do that now. Its the one match where the away fans won't moan about the change. A slap in the face from the RFL for being a vocal critic in 2015?

I thought IL had mentioned one of the Hull teams might be interested?

Not sure why any other club would accommodate IL's masterplan for Wigan dominance though!

As to the huge gap with home games in the summer I don't know what the reasons are but IL, Latics, the RFL and Sky need to sort something out better than this. It's a joke.

It may well affect peoples season ticket buying decisions and if our away form remains as poor as it was last season we could be on the end of a serious slump in form that could carry on into the the end of the season and super 8's.
