Biggest Super League Crowd of 2016 expected at the DW on Friday

Over 17,000 tickets already sold for Wigan v Saints Derby

Warriors face Saints in showdown tie at the DW Stadium on Friday 22nd July, 8pm

The biggest crowd of the 2016 Super League season is expected at the DW Stadium on Friday night for the Derby showdown against St Helens.

The Easter Derby at Langtree Park between the two sides currently holds the record for the biggest First Utility Super League crowd of the year with 17,890 in attendance that day.

With over 17,000 tickets already sold for this Friday’s game and a full three days left to go the Derby is rapidly becoming the hottest ticket in Super League.

Marketing Director Simon Collinson said: “It’s great to see the Wigan fans really get behind the team in great numbers for this huge game.

“Both teams know just how vital two points at this stage of the season can be. The Wigan team need the points to push on towards top spot whilst St Helens will really want to get the win and secure an extra home game in the Super 8s.

“Wigan go into the game with just one defeat in nine and St Helens have won their last four so it’s two in-form teams going toe to toe. Let’s not forget it will be Frank-Paul Nuuausala’s home debut for the Warriors too!

“Over 16,000 Wigan fans have already purchased tickets for the game and with less than 300 tickets remaining for the South Stand the message is simple to fans – guarantee your seat as soon as possible for what should be one of the games of the season.”

Tickets can be purchased online by CLICKING HERE, phoning the Ticket Hotline on 0871 66-33-552 and in person at the DW Stadium Ticket Office.

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan
