MATCH DAY GUIDE - LIONS VS WARRIORS

Post by josie andrews »

Swinton Lions take on World Club Champions Wigan Warriors in the sixth round of the Challenge Cup, the game will kick off at 3pm.

Swinton Lions RLFCs home ground is Heywood road it is located in the heart of Sale, Manchester (M33 3WB) home to both Swinton Lions and Sale F.C. The ground can hold 3000 supporters and has standing and seating areas.

With an increase in crowd numbers, the security will be raised to cope with the demand. We strongly recommend that all fans get to Heywood Road at least one hour before kick-off to allow time for additional security checks - including bag searches outside of the ground. Please be aware that there will be a longer than usual queue for tickets at this Sunday’s match.

There will be the usual activities on gameday including raffles, quizzes and match day interviews which will be taking place from 2 o’clock onwards in the Lions bar. Music also starts at 2 so make sure you get down early.

The programme will be available to purchase at the game, only £3. The match day programme includes the latest interviews, insights and news from Swinton Lions.

Tickets are available over the phone on 01925 665 497 or online from our partners Codex here. For postage, the deadline to order tickets (Both over the phone and online) is Thursday 11th May, 3pm.

Our partner pubs The Brook and the Brooklands tap also have an allocation of tickets available to sell in Sale.

Ticket Prices

Adults £17

Concessions £15

Under 16s £10

Under 2s FREE

All tickets are unreserved seating and standing so make sure you get to the ground early if you would like to be seated.

By Car

The ground is easily accessed from the M60 motorway (from Swinton join the M60 at Worsley roundabout). Leave the M60 at the Stretford and Sale exit, signposted A56 Sale and Altrincham. Turn right onto the A56, and after 1.5 miles turn left onto A6144 Marsland Road. Continue in a straight line until you see Brooklands tram station, and Heywood Road is another 500 yards further on to the right. However, please do not proceed down Heywood Road itself without a car park pass.

Parking spaces at Heywood Road are reserved for disabled supporters and staff only. Therefore, supporters are asked to park in the roads around the ground, spaces are limited and are expected to fill early.

By Public Transport

If travelling by public transport, the ground is best approached by Metrolink on the Manchester to Altrincham line. Exit the tram at Brooklands and turn left along Marsland Road. Heywood Road is 500 yards up on the right hand side.

To access the Metrolink system from Swinton, we suggest a no.22 bus to Eccles (change trams at Cornbrook), or take a bus into Manchester. Brooklands is the 6th stop after Cornbrook.

Swinton Lions are looking forward to seeing both sets of fans at Heywood Road for the historic cup tie against Wigan Warriors.

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan
