Trophy tour begins

Post by josie andrews »

Take your chance to stand beside all three of Wigan’s 2018 trophies during the Community Foundation trophy tour, taking place over the next two weeks.

To build the excitement ahead of Wigan’s first BETFRED Super League home fixture of 2019 against Leeds Rhinos (Friday 8th Feb), the Super League trophy, Women’s Super League trophy and U19s trophy will be visiting a number of community clubs in the area.

The trophies will be at the following locations:

Monday 28th January 6pm @ Wigan St Judes 7:30pm @ Ashton Bears

Tuesday 29th January 6pm @ Wigan St Patricks 7:30pm @ Orrell St James

Wednesday 30th January 6pm @ Ince Rose Bridge

Sunday 3rd February 12:30pm @ Golborne Parkside

Monday 4th February 6pm @ Shevington Sharks hosted at Central Park 7:30pm @ Wigan St Cuthberts

Tuesday 5th February 6pm @ Spring View 7:30pm @ Hindley ARLFC including Westhougton Lions

Community Innovation Manager, Anthony Atherton commented, “The idea is for all players and coaches within our community to have access to the silverware that was won in 2018. The work we do here at Wigan Warriors and the Community Foundation is built upon the tremendous work that goes on day in day out, week in week out by an army of fantastic volunteers.

The more work we can do in partnership with our clubs the better and healthier the game is. With us having such a strong an vibrant community game in Wigan we are looking to push relationships to the next level and felt this was unique way to celebrate it.

Throughout all of our senior and youth squads are players that got their love from the game in the local community clubs. We want to play our part in keeping that true for the future generations of player, coach, volunteer and fan.”

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan
