Warriors to continue dual registration deal with Swinton Lions

Club also confirms dual registration deal with League 1 side London Skolars

Academy duo James Barran and Sam Grant set for London Skolars dual registration deal

Wigan Warriors can confirm that some of the club’s most promising youngsters will head to Swinton Lions as the two clubs will once again will continue their dual registration partnership with Swinton Lions for the 2019 season.

The agreement will see Wigan Warriors allowing their first team squad players to feature in the Betfred Championship, under the stewardship of Lions coach Stuart Littler. The Warriors can also confirm, that they have entered a similar arrangement with Betfred League 1 side, London Skolars with Academy duo James Barran and Sam Grant heading to the capital on a dual-registration agreement.

Executive Director, Kris Radlinski: “We enjoy a superb working relationship with the Swinton Lions club, in particular Chairman Andy Mazey and Head Coach, Stuart Littler. With the lamentable state of reserve rugby in our sport, it’s important we find pathways and opportunities for players in our squad who are still finding their way in the game. It’s also great to announce that some of our players will be heading to the capital to play for the London Skolars. Wigan have been a long-time supporter of rugby league in London and we believe that our players will benefit from the experience of playing competitive rugby in the Betfred League 1 for an organisation on that is clearly on the rise.”

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan
