The Bradford chairman needs to look into the recent history of his own club before slinging the mud.

Bradford broke the salary cap in 2006 and were deducted two points and handed a £15k fine which was suspended.

In 2007 they committed another offence and got another two pints docked but that suspended fine was not imposed.

The reason it wasn’t was explained to me via email thus:
Dave,

The punishment is as stated on the Super League website. A deduction of two competition points plus the costs of the case.

This is in line with the tariff of punishments agreed by all clubs and the RFL.

The panel also found that in Bradford 's 2006 case, there had been no conduct prejudicial to the bests interest of the game therefore the fine from last season remains suspended.

Trust that is helpful.

So the point is all salary cap breaches are not considered equal so him making stupid analogies about the speed limit is just that. Stupid.

EDIT:

Suitable comment form me posted on the Bradford Argus web side under the article. Be interesting to see what gets flung back at me if anything!

Surely someone should explain to Chalmers that if you go through a set of average speed cameras you will not be penalised for a minor infraction as long as your average is below that stated.

Think the Bradford chairman needs a pack of anti-bitterness tablets.

Still, Yerksheer might be famous for its puddings but it ain't far behind with its sour grapes.

What a “tit” Andrews Chalmers is? 😡 I hope Bradford never get back into SL 👊🏼
Bradford Bulls chairman's astonishing attack on Wigan Warriors as he calls for Ian Lenagan resignation

Bradford Bulls chairman Andrew Chalmers says his Wigan counterpart Ian Lenagan should resign

Bradford Bulls chairman Andrew Chalmers is no stranger to controversy or a biting remark or two, with a long-standing public feud with Hull KR chairman Neil Hudgell in the past.

Now the Bulls supremo has come out with an extraordinary blast aimed at Wigan Warriors following their salary cap breach, turning his ire in the direction of his opposite number at Wigan, Ian Lenagan.

The Warriors sit on minus two points in Super League, having been handed a points deduction for a salary cap breach during the 2017 season. Wigan were penalised after six separate payments totalling £14,700 were not declared to the Rugby Football League.

Lenagan, speaking after the points deduction, said the club were guilty merely of an administrative error, with the honesty and integrity of the Warriors not in question. That sentiment doesn't appear to be shared by Chalmers.

Writing in his weekly column for the Bradford Telegraph and Argus, Chalmers issued a broadside towards Wigan and even called for Lenegan to step down.

He said: "I know, from our own salary cap returns, that they are based on honesty and self-declaration. I am not sure how you can innocently under-report costs.
"The average man in the street might conclude it's either wilful dishonesty, or at the very least, sheer incompetence.

"Apparently chairman Ian Lenagan is taking personal responsibility for it, which is right and proper, and for which he deserves respect. He should now do the honourable thing and resign."
