Wigan salary cap spend

Post by nathan_rugby »

Over the years we have often been asking the question of "How on earth have we spent the cap limit when we have lost X player and replaced him with Y."

The response from the club has always been improved contracts to Z.

I am interested to hear everyone's opinions of who the clubs top earners are and how much we think they are earning? I for one, when looking at our starting 13, 17 and squad cannot fathom how we have spent up to the cap limit.

IL and KR must accept the blame on this one.

1 - Lockers
2 - Williams
3 - Lulu
4 - Burgess
5 - Hardaker
6 - Powell
7 - Farrell
8 - Flower
9 - Greenwood
10 - Clubb
11- Sarginson
12 - Gildart
13 - Isa
14 - Tautai
15 - Manfredi

Others on lower salaries
Escare, Marshall, Davies, Navarrette

How on earth have we spent up to the cap with that squad?

I dont think you will be far out with that assumption......george will possibly be on more than lockers and i think dom will be a bit higher up the ladder...... what worries me is that if tommy is ine of our top earners then we seriously need to get people like that repkaced asap

These are two reasons not to trust people.
1. We don't know them.
2. We do know them.

The salary cap is based on the top twenty-five earners . I think you can safely assume the top ten earners will be taking around or over £1 million of the £1.9 million.

It's not just the top 25 though. It's anyone outside the top 25 who doesn't qualify for the U21's, earns over 20K and has played in a salary cap relevant match. I'd have to think hard to see if we have anyone that may fit this description though!

Can add Bullock, Hamlin, Hankinson, Sammut, Partington,
Easily gets up to 25.
I'm glad I don't have to manage it.

What has that got to do with me trying to understand where all of our cap has been spent?
