If the club continues to rely on the production of junior players then it has to find a way of retaining them in the long-term in order to develop a cohesive and dominant team. I am all for investing in youth but not to sell them to the NRL. Had we been able to keep our players over the last 10 years we would have been top dog. We have a new crop coming through who have proved that they can cut it at SL level so get them tied down Rads.

Two words.

Salary and Cap.

Leeds managed it

Warrington / Saints / Leeds / etc etc

We'v e won more than Saints and Wire this past ten years.
A combination of youth and experience has always been the key and always will. There are plenty quality youth players at the club we now need some experienced players to replace those who are perhaps leaving at the seasons's end.

Sadly we are a feeder club for the NRL. We invest in the players and the NRL comes and takes them for a pittance. It will never change. It’s like la liga for premiership players.

They could be valid points and certainly it is very difficult to keep players when the NRL come calling. However, we could divide the money up better and secure these young guys to longer term contracts. There are some tough calls to be made but give me a player with prospects rather than a guy at the end of his career who will not get any better! We have recruited several players on significant salaries who are simply not cutting the mustard, I would much prefer us to reward players coming through the system.

No we have not. Leeds have five GF wins to our four an it is two CC’s each during the last ten years. Our last CC win was in 2013. The most successful side since SL started is Leeds with 8 GF wins to our five.

Well yes we know that but it’s no use saying it if none of our best young players go on to provide the experience because we can’t keep then. Currently our experienced players are actually past it.

Has that been part of the problem though? Trying to keep them all and spreading the cap thinly?
