Worst coach in 40 years

Post by Exiled Wiganer »

I have only been watching Wigan for 40 years, and so just missed out on the mid 70s coaches, but, from Fairburn onwards, I can honestly say that I have never known us have a worse coach in that time. 3 stick out as obvious other candidates - DorahyHughes and Millward - but they had worse teams to coach than Lam has available. I know many are pointing the fingers at the players, but pretty much this same squad finished second and won the Grand Final last year.

Lam has lost every halfway difficult match we have played. We have absolutely no discernible plan or attempted style of play, and he has shown himself completely unable to motivate the side. I appreciate that he seems a terrific person, but, while today was a nadir even by his standards, the gap between our potential and our performance has never been bigger.

I have no idea whether he will be sacked, but, if not I would be astonished if we win any game before we next play at home, regardless of who is available. By which time his win percentage will be by far the worst of any coach in that period. We would improve simply by having no coach.

I agree but I can’t see IL or KR having the balls that’s king Kev has at Leeds and admitting that they got it wrong in the coach appointment.we will have lam next season as he will be cheap and it very clear that IL & KR don’t like spending money

By my reckoning, in 2 weeks time we will be unable to finish above St Helens.
Those wanting to find excuses for this car crash of a coach might want to reflect on that. Unable to overtake Saints by the start of June.
If we can’t replace him play without a coach - we simply could not be worse.

Same old shit. Thing is and I honestly believe this, he will be coach next year. That is a travesty.

I applauded Catalans last try today we were pathetic.
