Was having a think the other day. I accept empires rise and fall and this year has to be an off year, so I’ll suck it up and moan all the while... but what I was thinking was that you get a team every year that dominate the League... think in the past few years Wire, Castleford, Leeds and now St Helens this year. These teams blow away opponents and lose occasionally. Wigan have never dominated a season and or have been consistently mercurial with points scoring.

Wanes defensively minded approach I guess but you want to be entertained... the main reason why many of us wanted Wane to go.

Selling players and signing inferior players.

Creating a culture of moving to NRL and coming back.

Not adequately replacing coaching staff.

Improper succession plans for players. Most notably Lockers.

I do not see this changing any time soon at all under Lam. The forwards haven’t dominated in a single game. Lockers, Tommy L and Clubb another year older next year and way past sell by.

Not resolving the coaching situation.
Buying players on the cheap .
Players not good enough .
Forwards puff pastry.
Keeping hold of players past their sell by date.
Not replacing fitness staff .
Trying to run the club on a budget.
Not having any Marquee players will we have any when Williams leaves?(no club statement)
Keeping the fans in limbo we all knew what is happening but nothing from the club.
No one guiding the team around .
Crowds diminishing what we need is a massive signing .
TV too easy to watch in the pub or at home.
Ground too big with no atmosphere .
No public advertising .

All teams have peaks and troughs of success but while Saints for example have dipped out of success theyve never looked too far from it.
This is the point. The nature of the competition is that you can be consistently good but miss out on trophies. Both main competitions are knock outs.

A team could get to the GF five seasons running and lose every one while another could win it once in that time and struggle to stay up for the remaining four.

There is a difference between lack of success due to inept recruitment and other poor decisions compared to lack of success due to the sporting Gods.

The so called cyclic nature of success is one big excuse for badly run clubs when the reason for failure is obvious bad management. There was nothing inevitable that meant Wigan was bound to end up with the squad it has currently or its current coach.

If this so called cycle is inevitable then it means every few years it is inevitable IL loses the plot.

You could have saved a lot of typing by just saying IL is not running the club properly as all of the above are within his remit.
