Wigan Warriors prop Ben Flower ruled out 'for up to eight weeks'
Ben Flower could be out for up to eight weeks with a back injury sustained on Sunday.
He left the 19-18 win at Hull KR early and was taken to hospital for scans amid fears he had damaged a vertebrae.
While he was cleared of major injury, Adrian Lam has revealed he doesn't expect him to be playing soon.
"Ben could be out for up to eight weeks depending on how he responds," he said.
"He's got bruising and they're saying four to eight weeks but it's week to week, depending on the pain levels."
Flower is the third prop from the squad which started the year to be ruled out. Gabe Hamlin is suspended following a UK Anti-Doping violation - his case has yet to be concluded - while Taulima Tautai has been stood down while the club investigates his drink-driving charge yesterday.
Romain Navarrete and academy-products Ollie Partington and Liam Byrne are in Lam's squad.
Meanwhile, he hopes to have Joe Greenwood (ribs) and Zak Hardaker (hamstring) back for next week's match at Huddersfield.

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

Holts injury update
Get the latest on the Wigan Warriors squad with the Holts injury update.
Zak Hardaker
The full-back left the field of play at half time vs Hull KR with a hamstring injury, one which the Head Coach explained was a precautionary measure rather than a serious injury.
Hardaker wasn’t named in the 19-man squad to face Leeds Rhinos on Wednesday.
Ben Flower
Following a scan on a back injury sustained against Hull KR, Flower has been ruled out of this weekend’s trip to face Leeds Rhinos.
On the severity of the injury, Adrian Lam explained that Flower will be monitored on a week by week basis, but a four-to-eight week window is a likely recovery period for the prop forward.
Joe Greenwood
Speaking on Wednesday, Head Coach Adrian Lam also provided an update on second-row Joe Greenwood, who has been out of action since the Magic Weekend with an injury to his ribs.
Lam made it clear he wouldn’t be available for selection this week and will be continually monitored in the coming game weeks.
Long-term injury list
Dom Manfredi (knee)
Tom Davies (ankle)

It's up to Clubb to step up big time!

We are missing 3 props and yet Kibula doesn’t get in. Time to think squad size again?

The club just allowed Kibula to go on loan for a month to Swinton. They can't recall him within that month.
We might well go back to the Cas/Wakey/Salford games where their only game plan was to bash up the middle and score crash over try after crash over try.
Sammut and Escare could provide part of the answer with their pace. Leeds and Hudds aren't the fastest teams around and we saw it work at Cas until Sammut went off.
These next two games are going to be difficult.

This all makes me wonder if we could have done a bit more after the loss of Gabe. I don't know what the legal position is (has he officially gone?) but surely we could have brought in a solid experienced replacement even if only for a limited time? If we're still awaiting a decision on Gabe that just isn't good enough. Ben is a big loss at this stage and I hope Clubby will show us why he's worth a new contract.

Flowers back has been a massive issue for years, he needs a 3 year contract
