Yet he won us that game last night and who knows how many games we would have won with his kicking if he had played, Remember how many on here wanted Richards gone after a year, I know he's nowhere near Richards standard in attack but maybe his kicking is

I remember Matty Smith winning us a couple of games with drop goals but it didnt make him a good player.
And look how we struggled when he left and we didn't have his organisational skills
So nothing to do with the forwards being crap then heh?? I suppose if Matty was still at Wigan we would be top of the league and still in the cup would we?

When Pat Richards first came the first year we would have sent him home and look how that turned out, I have also got to hold my hand up and say Clubb had a better game lets hope he keeps up the work rate
Six one and fourteen eleven.
Bigger than Farrell and Isa.
25 years old.
But does not hit as hard, going forward, as either.
d asked, I answered, mission accomplished.

Wiganer Ted wrote: Sun Jun 16, 2019 2:46 pm Farrell and Isa are career long full time professionals. Hankinson is in his first full time season.
He was very good Friday night and if he kicks goals like that on a regular basis he simply has to play. His goal kicking kept us in the game and in front. For a team lacking in confidence that is very important. What he did prove is that a team conceding a penalty in their half will concede points. To see the scoreboard moving along on a regular basis will give a team a lot of confidence. Hankinson can do that.

How Lam copes with his team selection is down to him. Mind you given it is Lam selecting for Hudds I can see him dropping Hankinson from the 19 altogether.

That's far too logical for some! :D

Sarge is better In team playing centre than hankinson, but why not given most people think hankinson isnt upto standard, play him on wing if it’s kick returns that seem to be people’s issue on here, get him on wing he can finish and kick goals and that way Zak, Sarge and Hankinson all play and it gives hank some experience/minutes

If he can kick goals like Frano, then he plays. Simple as that.

Frano Botica was a decent, if not outstanding open field player that was able to hold down a place in a team that was at least twice as talented as the current one.

If Hankinson is anywhere near that standard then he should be the first name on the teamsheet.

Comparing him to frano after one game jeez no pressure.

For the avoidance of doubt I am NOT comparing him to Frano.

I am making two points:

1. The precedent has been set for a goalkicker to be included in the team where he perhaps otherwise would not have been picked.

2. IF his goalkicking is anywhere near Frano's standard, then he should walk into this (very mediocre) Wigan team.

The criticism of Rads/the club for "shopping at poundland" are understandable (though they do contradict those who complained that the likes of Saints and Wire could sign Walmesley and Hill from lower divisions).

We've also had regular moans about the need for a decent centre to replace Sarge, and a big prop who can take the ball up and make some hard yards.

Now we have Bullock and Hankinson what should our expectations be? Is it reasonable to write them off if they don't perform like NRL stars in their first season as full-time pros? (Especially in a struggling team.)

I think we should give the two of them some credit, and reserve judgement until the end of the season, or even the start of next season.

Makes too much sense that MPE !
Fans have little or no patience, even though a coach has to, especially in an ever changing line-up, through injuries that we've had all year, suspensions and off-field demeanours. More than any other Club.
Can see it's not popular on here, but I think Lam should be given to the end of the season, with the cards he's been dealt with.

Frano was a better player than many gave him credit for being,
if Hankinson can make the grade then great but he needs to improve to be a regular and that's in this seasons team.
