Head Coach Adrian Lam names 19-man squad to face St Helens

One change from last week as Escare is replaced by Shorrocks

St Helens vs Wigan Warriors, Friday 12th July, Totally Wicked Stadium, K.O. 7:45pm

Head Coach Adrian Lam has named the Wigan Warriors 19-man squad to face St Helens on Friday in the Betfred Super League (K.O.7:45pm).

The reigning Betfred Super League champions will make their second trip to the Totally Wicked Stadium this season, after losing there on the opening day of the 2019 season back in late January.

Injury news

Speaking earlier this week, Head Coach Adrian Lam explained that the decision to select experienced forward Tony Clubb would likely go down to the wire.

He said, We’ll get Tony Clubb to captain’s run and see how he is. He struggled at the start of the week, but he’s settled in ok. It’ll be a decision we make on Thursday.”

Clubb is included in this week’s 19-man squad.

Sean O’Loughlin (achilles) misses out for the second week in a row, while Ben Flower (back) continues his recovery and is expected to return in three to four weeks.

Dom Manfredi (knee) and Tom Davies (ankle) remain the only long-term absentees.

Wigan Warriors 19-man squad to face St Helens:

Joe Bullock, Joe Burgess, Liam Byrne, Tony Clubb, Liam Farrell, Oliver Gildart, Chris Hankinson, Zak Hardaker, Willie Isa, Tommy Leuluai, Liam Marshall, Romain Navarrete, Ollie Partington, Sam Powell, Jarrod Sammut, Dan Sarginson, Jake Shorrocks, Morgan Smithies, George Williams.

Get over it.!! Who do you drop out of the squad to accommodate him.?
Shorrocks & byrne to drop out of the 19, or shorrocks & clubb if he's declared not fit after captain's run.

Saints name 19-man squad for Wigan game

SKIPPER James Roby has been included in Saints' 19-man squad ahead of Friday's home derby against Wigan Warriors.

Head Coach Justin Holbrook said he would make a call on Thursday to see if he is fit enough to start.

Roby has missed the last four Saints victories after undergoing surgery on a niggling groin injury.

Fellow rake Aaron Smith has also recovered from the injuries he picked up in the win over Warrington and also returns to the squad.

Joseph Paulo, who picked up a calf strain, and Matty Costello drop out.

Saints: 1. Jonny Lomax, 2. Tommy Makinson, 3. Kevin Naiqama, 4. Mark Percival, 5. Regan Grace, 6. Theo Fages, 8. Alex Walmsley, 9. James Roby, 10. Luke Thompson, 13. Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook 15. Morgan Knowles, 16. Kyle Amor, 17. Dom Peyroux, 18. Adam Swift, 19. Matty Lees, 20. Jack Ashworth, 21. Aaron Smith, 22. James Bentley, 23. Lachlan Coote

He is out indefinitely until he has been assessed by a specialist about his recurring concussion.

And quite right too, ridiculous for him to carry on without seeing someone who hopefully can help him

Let's face it, he's been absolute rubbish when he hasn't played for the past few weeks so he needs to be replaced by someone in the 19 who also won't play but is much better at not playing.
