so when people talk about Wigan standard for me this is it - this team this year and the way we played was wigan standard. Whats noticeable looking at this is how much pace we had in the backs, we've gone from having big big men and fast small men to a team of average average men
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure

I started watching in the late 70s when wigan standard was top of division 2 or bottom of division. 1. This lot would destroy those teams.

I should of qualified i meant within the modern salary capped era - this was an achievable team within the constraints of the modern game

I very much doubt that. There are a number of key factors here. We have 7 clubs capable of spending as much as us, from a smaller pool of talent, with the NRL wages relatively so much higher.

Always liked Roberts, I think mags got the best out of him.
Shame about his injury, it seem to disappear after that

I don't think those that rattle on about players being Wigan Standard will be thinking the same as you, They will more or likely be thinking about the glory eyars

I made that video... when I didn’t have kids...

James Slevin
Ces Mountford
And the “kind of rugby player you’d want to be in your dreams” James Leytham
Should be in the Wigan Warriors Hall
