After Thomas Leuluai was hailed one of Wigan's best overseas players, it got us thinking about the club's brilliant New Zealand players.

Some great players there who were brilliant to watch.
Good that Lance Todd hasn't been forgotten.
With just 17 some equally great players are not in there.
Charlie Seeling, he was known as the greatest ever Rugby Union All Black before he signed for Wigan. Heard that he persuaded Lance Todd to sign for us. A descendant of Charlie's is still a season ticket holder at Wigan.
No Brian Nordgren either. Didn't see Nordgren play but Ray French had seen him and told me what a truly great player he was.

The problems with these teams are comparing different eras and having to pick people out of position.

I'd rather just have a list of the 13/17/20 best New Zealanders to play for us. Any debate could be about the quality of the player rather than picking Tony Iro at 2nd row and Tuigamala on the wing. (And, yes, i know they may have played there, but that's where the debate starts to focus on the wrong qualities.)

And finally, Paul Koloi was Tongan.

Mind you the fact Tony Iro who played 50 games for us gets in when his brother didn’t despite his brother paying double the number shows you how daft this list is.

I also agree with the comment earlier about picking players based on position being silly. Dean Bell was famous as a centre not a loser forward!

He played International for Cook Islands he was born in Auckland

He told me that was where he came from!

Wherever Gelling is from, he was a centre, and would be behind Tuigamala, Todd, Bell, Carmont and probably others. End of story.
