Post by josie andrews »

Adrian Lam has named the Wigan Warriors 19-man squad to face Castleford Tigers in the Betfred Super League this Thursday

Two changes in the 19 as O’Loughlin and Flower return in place of the injured Marshall and suspended Farrell

Wigan Warriors vs Castleford Tigers, Thursday 12th September, DW Stadium, K.O. 7:45pm
Head Coach Adrian Lam has named the Wigan Warriors 19-man squad to face Castleford Tigers this Thursday in the Betfred Super League (K.O.7:45pm).

Wigan head into Thursday’s game knowing that a victory will secure second place in the Betfred Super League ahead of the play-offs. Castleford, who currently sit in fifth place, need a win themselves to have the chance of cementing a play-off place.

Team News

Earlier this week, Head Coach Adrian Lam provided an update on Sean O’Loughlin and Ben Flower ahead of Thursday’s game.

“Ben Flower and Sean O’Loughlin both have a chance this week, it’s probably 50/50. They trained with us today and both looked good. Hopefully they will be fit for Thursday’s game.”

Second-row Liam Farrell is to miss out this week after receiving a one-match penalty notice for a Grade B Dangerous Throw against Catalans Dragons last week.

Winger Liam Marshall misses out with a hamstring injury which kept him out of last week’s game vs Catalans Dragons.

Forward Joe Bullock also misses out as he recovers from a knee injury sustained vs St Helens in July.

Jarrod Sammut, continues his recovery from an ankle injury. Fellow halfback Jake Shorrocks also misses out with a hamstring injury.

Dom Manfredi (knee) and Tom Davies (ankle) remain the only long-term absentees.

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan
