19-man squad vs Salford

Post by josie andrews »

Adrian Lam has named Wigan’s 19-man squad to face Salford Red Devils on Friday in the Betfred Super League Semi-Final

Just one change in the 19 from last week as Sarginson comes in and Greenwood misses out.

Wigan Warriors vs Salford Red Devils, Friday 4th October, DW Stadium, K.O. 7:45pm

Adrian Lam has named Wigan’s 19-man squad to face Salford Red Devils on Friday in the Betfred Super League Semi-Final (K.O. 7:45pm).

The Warriors will face Ian Watson’s side for a fifth time this season, having won all of the previous four in 2019. However, speaking to the media on Tuesday, Lam explained that he expects a big challenge at the DW on Friday night.

“They’ve been outstanding all year. We’ve played them a fair few times and it’s always gone down to the wire in the back end of those games.

“They’ve done a pretty good job considering the rotation of players they’ve had too. We respect them and especially the situation where they have nothing to lose.”

Team News

Earlier this week the Head Coach provided an update on his squad, with only Dan Sarginson proving a concern.

He said, “Everybody got through (last week) all good. Dan Sarginson had a run today, he has a 50/50 chance for Friday, fingers crossed he gets through the back end of the week. Apart from that, everyone else is good.”

The only long-term injuries in the squad are Dom Manfredi (knee) and Tom Davies (ankle)

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

Is greenwood injured?

Or is lam pinning his hopes on superstar sarge?

Seems strange to include sarge which general means Hankinson misses out at the expense of a forward
These are two reasons not to trust people.
1. We don't know them.
2. We do know them.

Greenwood turning out to be a poor investment.

I would play him all day, every day before Clubb.

Greenwood hasn't looked the same player since coming back from his head knock. Its almost as if he's tentative going into contact. A bit like Lee Mossop was after his umpteenth shoulder reconstruction. I'm wondering if wearing a scrum cap to play might be something worth trying for him.

Did any of you ever wonder why Saints didn't try to re-sign Greenwood? Instead they kept two 30+ year olds( Peyroux and Taia) and then signed another, Joseph Paulo.

Backward step if we have to move Faz to accomondate Greenwood . He's not a big enough impact player to play from the bench either. Days numbered under Lam methinks made of china as well.
