Mick Cassidy for me! Absolute work horse and would tackle anything that moved! Extremely underrated forward!

That's a great point as to what constitutes legends and greats. Think there have been many greats, loads of them in fact but as to legends, maybe not so many.
Think from my perspective, a legend is someone who opposing fans don't want to see anywhere near the ball.
Hanley and Boston definitely fit into this category but also Tomkins, pre his New Zealand move, Offiah, Bret Kenny, Paul and Andy Farrell. Think that SOL, like Edwards, only just misses out on being a legend on the playing field but I'm sure many will disagree.
Tomkins, A legend and Edwards isn't    , It also makes me laugh when Brett Kenny is trotted out as a Club legend even though he only played in 25 games
anyone who watched kenny in his wigan days know he had a lot of ordinary games and mainly remember his wembley performance....... steve ella was much better the following season but wasnt as bummed up coz we lost at oldham in thr cup....... we did however win everything else
Ella was a great player but I truly can't remember Kenny having ordinary games for Wigan. He might have had the odd ordinary moment but definitely an all time great/legend for me and personified the ambition shown by Wigan at the time and what a time it was.

Thing is, with Kenny, we still talk about him today. I was 1 when he came and it was like it was yesterday. A true Legend.
Rugby, Family and Strava... that’s about it for me to be honest!

I think the clarity is over legends of the game that played for wigan and wigan legends here

Lockers is a Wigan legend there is absolutely no doubt of that, i am all for open debate but there isnt one here, he is a Wigan legend you cannot play 450+ games over 18 years for a club and be integral part of the teams success as captain and be thought of in any lesser terms

Kenny was a legend of the game, he played 25 games for wigan so im cautious on calling him a wigan legend. There have been many great players who played for wigan i mean barrett and finch in recent years both played more than kenny both again i wouldnt class as "wigan legends" but legends of the game for sure.

Brett Kenny was one of the best players of all time but I can't consider him a Wigan legend when he only played 25 games for us. Didn't Gene Miles win more trophies in fewer games? It's just a matter of opinion of course, but in my book, a club legend has to have played for 4-5 seasons. An interesting discussion though.

I don't think you become a legend of the club until you either retire or leave. Once Lockers goes at the end of next season then people will say a legend has retired.

I can't think of any other player of the DW era that I regard as a legend.

The last before that would be Farrell, Hanley and Bell.
