They came over at the Magic weekend to have a look!!

Exactly, and the bigger the club with the most money should have a list longer than the others. No news here.

Not many aussies want to go to Canberra as it's a pretty dull place to live compared to the east coast.

So Rick Stuart specifically targetted non aussies to widen the pool of choice he has to realistically pick from. Traditionally this would be other southern hemisphere players, but now Stuart has identified UK has great value quality imports.

Do they also not have an overseas quota? What do the young players in Australia think about junior players from overseas coming into their teams?

If we were suggesting we’d import the number of players mentioned by the Raiders coach the RFL would soon have a rule banning it due to it stifling home grown talent.

The article mentions quite a few players including players from Saints and Cas as well as Wigan so hopefully the headline is a bit sensationalist and he was just commenting there was talent SL and not making public his shopping list.
Is it simply they can get better uk youngsters cheaper than the equivalent aussie youngster?

plus a lot of the teams who recruit English talent are the non-glamour clubs i.e Canberra/Newcastle/Warriors/Gold Coast - i suppose the benefit is they can sign a top talent like Batemen or an coming through talent like Williams and they wouldnt be as moved to join a glamour club if they prove themselves decent. The Aussie youngsters coming through are more like to use these teams as stepping stones

just a theory
