Get the latest on the Wigan Warriors squad with the Holts Auto Injury Update.
Ahead of Thursday’s Betfred Super League home tie vs Toronto Wolfpack, Head Coach Adrian Lam provided an update on a number of first-team players.
Sam Powell
After leaving the field following a blow to the head which left the hooker unconscious in Round 1, Powell missed out on Round 2. Powell has now also been left out of the 21-man squad to face Toronto.
George Burgess
The prop-forward who made his debut for Wigan in Round 1 had his first appearance cut short due to a hip injury. His continued recovery means he is not available for this week’s fixture.
Jake Shorrocks
The half/hooker made his first appearance of the season last week vs Castleford Tigers, coming off the bench. Lam announced earlier this week that he wouldn’t be available after picking up an injury.
He said: “Jake Shorrocks has got a strained calf.”
Ben Flower
Lam also provided an update on prop-forward Flower, who has not been available for selection so far this season.
The Head Coach explained: “Ben Flower has now got a back strain. He was going to come into the picture but now we’ve got to keep an eye on him.”
Long-term injuries
Centre Oliver Gildart continues his recovery from a dislocated shoulder, picked up on international duty for Great Britain last Autumn.

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan
