Wigan Warriors are hoping for a major boost ahead of hosting Hull FC a week on Sunday, February 23.

Already benefitting from a 10-day turnaround between games, head coach Adrain Lam is expecting to see his options increase for the match at the DW Stadium.

Wigan’s boost comes on the back of St Helens having a similar injection of quality into their squad this week ahead of facing FC on Sunday.

The Grand Final champions have Tommy Makinson, Alex Walmsley and Kyle Amor back for the trip to the KCOM Stadium with Morgan Knowles also set to feature.

Likewise Wigan look set to have a major boost with prop Ben Flower and winger Dom Manfredi in line to make their first appearances of the year. Sam Powell and George Burgess are also expected to feature having not played since the round one win against Warrington Wolves.

We have now lost Lockers for the game and maybe one or two after.
Lam's selection will be interesting, especially the front row.
With Burgess and Flower back it brings experience and with Bullock playing well v Toronto I'd hope changes to our starting props will be made.
Should Sam Powell return then TL to 7 and Smith either benched or rested. Smith hasn't much first team experience to have those massive Hull forwards running at him for 80 mins.
It maybe the case that Isa could face the disciplinary for the hit on Springer. If he cops a ban then Greenwood could make a return too.

Why would he cop a ban?

His arms are open he hits him hard but its not an illegal hit.

Contact is with Springer's head, he's taken from the field and subsequently fails the HIA test and doesn't return to the game.

The only contact with springers head is Isa's head

But it was a clash of heads, nothing to do with the tackle!

There was nothing wrong with the tackle. It wasn’t penalised and the ref didn’t put Isa on report despite blowing up when the player was obviously seeing stars.

So have either of Flower and Manfredi had a run out in the reserves? Seems a bit daft to chuck them deep end v Hull if not. We have been crying out for the reserves to allow this to happen.

Manfredi is in the squad for tomorrow's reserve game v HKR, Flower isn't.
Rumour on the TotalRL site saying Flower failed a medical at HKR last week after agreeing terms.

Thanks for the info. Despite the fact Burgess is not flavour of the month with many I think Manfredi needs to show some real signs of match fitness to figure. Watching the try Burgess scored from the tap he showed a real turn of pace on Thursday.

I suppose Lam could put Manfredi on the other wing for Marshall but I think that would be a bit ridiculous given how well Marshall has been playing.
