Why would the opposition have so much ball possession in order for Powell to make 70 tackles with a score line like that? That’s what I’d be asking

James Slevin
Ces Mountford
And the “kind of rugby player you’d want to be in your dreams” James Leytham

When Sam was missing for a while our superb goal line defence fell apart.Bear in mind what Wane said “this is not the squad”.I think there are a few players in there who are being put on notice that they are being watched as to their form during the season ,some who maybe thought they would never get picked.

We do look a better team with Powell. Some players just make it easier for others to do their own jobs.

The next in line for the gallows now Lockers career draws to a close?
No, just saying he is not the big superstar that he is suddenly being made into

Don’t think anybody has said ‘superstar’! They’re just saying he plays well for the team 😊
Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

And it is a team game, even more important that you get the composition of the side right, especially in a Salary Cap sport !

Agreed but we have 3 starting superleague quality fullbacks and 1 hooker. If i were building a team from scratch 9 would be my biggest spend as its the person who touches the ball the mosst in a game. Roby showed for saints during the dark years that a top quality 9 can carry an entire team.

I think to be honest everyone is saying the same thing about Powell from a different angle - i think the general consensus is hes a average/good talent that works incredibly hard for the team, doesn't walk into any top team like Hastings would but is "safe". So one side of the fans will argue he should be given more credit because he isnt "poor" and others will criticise because he isnt "great" but there in lies Powell - middle of the road

And with the Salary Cap restrictions you can't have a "star" in every single position, for purely financial rules. You do need a player that complements the make-up of the rest. And we do have some cover at '9' with TL and the very promising Burough ?
