Well quite frankly I have my doubts Lam knows what his type of team is.

It’s not about the game being different anyway, it’s about attitude.

The attitude under ML was one of continuous improvement. That ethos no longer exists at the club. It’s why we give players like Clubb a two year extension, have an average player like Powell at 9 and have persevered with players who should have retired.

The salary cap is a lame excuse made by some given there would be funds available if such players were shown the door when they should be.

I seriously doubt Wigan are looking for a better no 9 whereas previously they’d have the sniffers out continuously. I genuinely think if the current regime were in charge back then we’d have never signed the likes of Offiah or Hanley because it would be easier to stick with the decent players we already had. That’s the problem.
But they didn’t have a salary cap and look where we ended up.
With a shitload of trophies?
"What did ML's regime ever do for us?"

"Trophies?"

"OK, I'll give you trophies. But what else did ML's regime ever do for us?"

"Bankruptcy?"

"OK, I'll give you trophies and bankruptcy. But what else did ML's regime ever do for us?"

"Selling CP and becoming tenents of Latics?"

"OK,..." etc etc

Why give Wane so much hatred then 😉
These are two reasons not to trust people.
1. We don't know them.
2. We do know them.

Let's put this "debate" to bed shall we??

If Wigan were offered Cameron Smith (in his prime) would you want Powell or Smith?

Point I am making is there ARE much better hookers around no matter what the points of the debate and the "slowness" of Powell's running with the ball and often erratic passing/kicking is what poses little to no threat to opponents.

Opposition teams rarely have to worry about dominating the rucks because all our opponents easily do now and have done for a few year. Opponents change their teams and tactics around based on who we have in our team because we have no options - Tommy who is well past his best and Powell who was never good enough to play scrum half (his original position) and was simply moved to hooker because it was a given under Wane that he would be picked their, ergo we didn't need to recruit for that position. Limit Wigan in attack. Rarely do we stretch teams from wing to wing because we are a very slow team. Slow ptb, slow dummy half play and slow passing that usually sees outside players running back into the ruck where the ball came from. It all stems from that one position and the tactics we employ for them.

BTW If I remember Powell picked up a loose ball v Hull KR and looked like he was running in treacle before he had to run too far and was caught.

BTW Morley if you want to be pedantic we are bankrupt now . It is only IL pumping his own money in keeping the creditors at bay - yes or no???????????
I'm a better fan than you
Because I don't "Boo"!!!

Yes I bloody know transfer fees do not count on the salary cap for those illiterates that need it explaining to them because they assume everyone is as thick as they are
