21-man squad to face Hull FC

Post by josie andrews »

Adrian Lam names 21-man Wigan Warriors squad to face Hull FC in the Coral Challenge Cup Quarter Final.

Two changes as Amir Bourouh and Harry Rushton replace Joe Bullock and George Burgess.

Hull FC vs Wigan Warriors, Saturday 19th September, AJ Bell Stadium, K.O. 5pm.

Head Coach Adrian Lam has named the Wigan Warriors 21-man squad to face Hull FC this Saturday in the Coral Challenge Cup Quarter Final.

The fixture will be the first appearance in the competition by the Cherry and Whites in 2020, having received a bye in the previous round.

FC will arrive at the AJ Bell Stadium (5pm K.O.) having beaten Castleford Tigers last Sunday in Round Six.

Lam has made two changes to the side that faced Catalans Dragons last week, with youngsters Harry Rushton and Amir Bourouh coming in to replace the injured Joe Bullock and George Burgess.

Welshman Ben Flower serves the second of a two-match ban received for a Grade B ‘Dangerous Contact’ against Hull KR. Learn more HERE.

Young second-row Morgan Smithies serves the third game of a six-match ban received for two separate incidents during Wigan’s win over Castleford three weeks ago. Learn more HERE.

Injury news

Prop-forward Joe Bullock misses out with a hand injury incurred against Catalans Dragons last week.

Experienced forward George Burgess also misses out as he continues to fully overcome a hip problem.

Winger Liam Marshall continues his long-term recovery from an Anterior Cruciate Ligament knee injury sustained during the Round 10 tie with Castleford.

Prop Tony Clubb remains sidelined with a long-term neck injury.

Half-back Jake Shorrocks continues his recovery from a hamstring injury.

Last Names Squad For Quarter-Final

Andy Last has named his 21-man squad for Saturday’s Challenge Cup quarter-final against Wigan Warriors at the AJ Bell Stadium, brought to you in association with Jadan Press.

Last has made five changes to the squad that was named ahead of last Sunday’s Sixth Round victory over Castleford Tigers at the Totally Wicked Stadium.

Jamie Shaul is unavailable having failed a Head Injury Assessment during Sunday’s game, while Albert Kelly and Ratu Naulago both drop out having pulled up with hamstring injuries during the second-half.

Meanwhile, Adam Swift and Kieran both miss out with back injuries.

However, there is an early return to action for Marc Sneyd; the half-back suffered a lateral ligament injury in the victory over Huddersfield in August and was expected to miss up to two months of action, but makes an earlier than expected return.

Masi Matongo, Connor Wynne, Cameron Scott and Ben McNamara are all called up to the 21-man squad also.

Scott Taylor and Josh Jones remain unavilable.

The full 21-man squad can be found below:

2. Bureta Faraimo

Anybody else expecting Hull to try and run over us similar to what Catalans tried?

Do you not read any news on the players? It's been well documented this week that he's been given time off to allow a full recovery from his injury

Can we suppose from that, that Byrne is the player who has had Covid? If so, I hope he is ok (and hasn’t passed it on). I am in 2/3 minds about whether it makes sense to play Lockers, and if so, in what position. Could he be a substitute prop, as he is a decent size???
If we play as well as we did against Cats we will be fine. We just need the pack to be competitive, and our backs will win it for us. Play like we did against HKR and we will be toast.

Why all of a sudden is he being given time off? Lam quotes 2-3 weeks.

What has been uncovered that wasn't already known.

It does seem odd to be honest....... big money signings are usually fully checked out before signing them

He had a full 3-4 months break this season already. I'm not sure this signing is going to work out for anyone.
