Adrian Lam responds to Bevan French rumours

Post by josie andrews »

Adrian Lam says Wigan will do everything possible to keep Bevan French at the club.

Reports down under suggest Parramatta Eels are lining up an offer to bring French back to the NRL outfit.

Since leaving the Eels for Super League midway through 2019, French has hit top form and scored another three tries for the Warriors in their win over Salford on Friday.

Speaking to Wigan Today, Lam said: “We’re doing our best to keep him

“It’s well known that he’s getting a few bites from the NRL but it’s not a done deal and be reassured we’ve left no stone unturned. I talk to Bevan every day and that will continue.

“We’re working hard as a club to make sure he gets what he wants but at the end of the day it’s Bevan who has to make that decision.”

French, who has scored 14 tries in 18 games for Wigan, has been tipped to fill Parramatta’s potential void at full-back next season.

Current no.1 Clint Gutherson is expected to switch to the centres following Michael Jennings’ suspension, leaving the full-back role free for French.

When questioned on his future after Friday’s game, French told Sky Sports: “I’ve not made a decision yet.”

Should he leave the DW Stadium, Wigan have a ready-made replacement after recently securing the signing of Jai Field following his release from Parramatta.

Why would he go back to Parramatta when he wasn’t good enough for them before?

Hope he remembers that!
