Bid for the ground

Post by jobo » Tue Jan 05, 2021 6:28 pm

The consortium bid for Latics has apparently collapsed.

Wonder if IFL will stay in the hunt for the ground?

On his last interview on Wigan tv IL said that a consortium of business men including IL were waiting the outcome of the takeover .He wanted to buy the ground and Sharpies but administrators said he had to buy the Latics as well. Now that the takeover has fallen through it opens the way for them.

After all this time it would be interesting to know how many "other bidders" are left.

Cant see there being many now, mind the way the administrator bigged up the ease of sale at the start didn't help himself with his public persona.

It's not just buying the ground it's the maintenance costs '. The pitch is a mess, the admins sacked the head groundsman.
The last estimate I heard a few years ago was that the stadium as a whole would need between £4 and £6 million spending on it in the foreseeable future. The Chinese did some of that work, but there is still a lot to do.
Ian Lenagan is very astute, let's wait and see. Orrell hasn't been sold yet!!

Have to agree the stadium is a money pit. To keep maintain and bring up to standard would be pumping money into a white elephant. Was built on cheap wrong land and that can't ever be rectified .

Problem is in truth the ground is too big for both teams
