One of the best in one if the best Wigan sides ever, Dave Bolton, has died today.

I've only a vague memory of him, watching Wigan in the early 60's with a couple of my uncle's. Great, great player, RIP.

Sad news. Like you Jobo, I only saw Dave Bolton in his last year before he went to Aus - but enough to recognise a class act.

Great player with outstanding pace. Walked into the Wigan team then and would do today with his ability.
Didn't know he came from Whelley, I thought he was brought up in Shaw St across the Rd from St Michael's church.
Either way he was one of the all time Wigan greats to me.
Would love to have seen him play in Aus on those firm fast pitches.

One of the very best number 6s at Wigan. Terrific pace from a standing start and with Ashton and Boston outside him could cause havoc but even in those far off distant days there was more money to be made in Oz than in Wigan. Good enough to be able to stay and finish his career in Oz.
