Wigan to face York in Challenge Cup

Wigan tied with York in the Third Round of the Betfred Challenge Cup.

Game to be played between the 10th and 11th April.

Date, kick-off time and venue to be confirmed in due course.


Wigan Warriors will play York City Knights in the Third Round of the Betfred Challenge Cup between the 10th and 11th April.

Details of the date, kick-off time and venue will be confirmed in due course.

There will be two Third Round ties shown live by the BBC on Saturday 10th April.

The Third Round Draw was held at Victoria Park in Warrington on Monday morning – with the Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden in attendance.

Details for Wigan’s Third Round tie with York City Knights in the Betfred Challenge Cup have been confirmed.

Warriors to travel to LNER Community Stadium on Friday 9th April, 7:45pm K.O.

Game to be shown free of charge by TheSportsman.com on their YouTube and Facebook pages.


The schedule for the Third Round of the Betfred Challenge Cup has been confirmed with Wigan Warriors’ game against York City Knights set to be shown free of charge by The Sportsman on Friday 9th April (7:45pm K.O.).

TheSportsman.com will broadcast the game live on their YouTube and Facebook pages as the Cherry and Whites travel to the new LNER Community Stadium for the first time, in what will be the first competitive meeting between the two sides in 35 years.

Following away wins against Sheffield Eagles and London Broncos in the Betfred Challenge Cup, York were tied with Wigan in Monday’s Third Round draw and the two teams will go head-to-head in the competition for the first time since the 1984 Semi-Final.

Three of the eight ties in the Third Round are available on free to air coverage, and the other five to be streamed on the RFL’s Our League web and app.

York City Knights v Wigan Warriors – 7:45pm K.O., Live on The Sportsman website, YouTube & Facebook


Saturday 10th April

Salford Red Devils v Widnes Vikings – 12:30pm K.O., Live on Our League

Catalans Dragons v Wakefield Trinity – 5pm K.O., Live on BBC Two
Featherstone Rovers v Hull FC – 7pm K.O., Live on Our League
Sunday 11th April

Swinton Lions v Warrington Wolves – 12:30pm K.O., Live on Our League

I always think back to a Challenge Cup semi final a *cough* few years ago.

There was a banner saying "Wigan eat Yorkies".
