Who got the first Man of Steel points of 2021 for Wigan Warriors?

Post by josie andrews »

The first set of points have been revealed from the opening round of Super League.

Each week, a legend selects the three best players from each game and awards points - three to one.

They are amassed as the season goes on, culminating in the winner receiving the coveted Steve Prescott Man of Steel. Castleford's Paul McShane is the current holder.

From Wigan's 20-18 win against Leigh, hooker Sam Powell was adjudged to have been the best player on the pitch.

He took three points, with Zak Hardaker claiming two and Leigh hooker Liam Hood getting one.

Powell made 65 tackles in Friday's match while Hardaker scored a try and made 236 metres.

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan
