Why include him then?

It’s clear most sides are struggling to put a full squad out so be honest and don’t include injured players

I would forfit the match and take the loss.

Chances of us beating Wakefield with the players missing is almost none existent and playing risks injuries and further suspensions.

RFL is a joke for organising this game at this point,

I'd personally want to see if challenge cup week but the are obviously trying to protect the 2 teams involved in that at everyone else's expense.
These are two reasons not to trust people.
1. We don't know them.
2. We do know them.

Another 40 plus defeat. Lam’s already got his excuse ready. Suspensions and internationals. He will need something different next week when we play Warrington.

Looks like the decision to let Clarke go to Newcastle was the right one.

Lam must have known about the international and that it could leave us short.

Then again, it was only for 2 weeks, so from the 10th June he should be back Thursday, could he not meat the other there.

The Warriors have only named an 18-man squad to face Wakefield - as opposed to the usual 21-man panel, two days before the game.

Hooker O'Neill is included and though, obviously, one of the 18 will not make the cut, coach Adrian Lam had already indicated winger Dom Manfredi - who is included in the squad - is unlikely to play as he battles a knee injury.

And so unless Manfredi makes a remarkable recovery, O'Neill may get his chance having been recalled from his loan spell at Championship outfit Widnes. A combative hooker, Lam brought him into the senior squad last year but he injured his knee before he got the chance to make his first-team debut.

James McDonnell - who made his Wigan debut last September - is also included after returning from a spell on loan at York. He has not played in the last two weeks due to injury.

It remains to be seen whether Mitch Clark may yet be recalled from his loan spell at Newcastle. His move was announced on June 10 and a player must spend a minimum of two weeks on loan before he can be recalled - Wigan's game takes place on Thursday the 24th.

From the squad named, it would appear likely teenager Umyla Hanley would cover full-back with Willie Isa moving to centre again, and Jake Bibby occupying one wing spot. Oliver Gildart and Liam Marshall would play their second game together on the left edge, Harry Smith and Thomas Leuluai will be at halfback with Sam Powell at hooker.

With John Bateman and Liam Farrell on England duty, Morgan Smithies and possibly Kai Pearce-Paul may take the second-row positions, with the other spots filled by the rest of the squad.

Wigan's 18-man squad: Dom Manfredi, Oliver Gildart, Liam Marshall, Tommy Leuluai, Sam Powell, Joe Bullock, Willie Isa, Oliver Partington, Morgan Smithies, Liam Byrne, Harry Smith, Ethan Havard, Jake Bibby, Joe Shorrocks, Kai Pearce-Paul, James McDonnell, Umyla Hanley, Brad O'Neill

O’Neill and McDonnell recalled

We can confirm that youngsters Brad O’Neill and James McDonnell have both been recalled to the Wigan Warriors first team squad.

Both players return to Wigan from their respective loan clubs, with the news coming as the Warriors name their squad to travel to the Mobile Rocket Stadium on Thursday to take on Wakefield Trinity.

O’Neill was on an extended loan deal with Widnes Vikings in the Betfred Championship. After making nine appearances, scoring two tries and averaging 42 tackles per game, head coach Adrian Lam has decided to recall the hooker, in what could be a potential debut for Wigan on Thursday.

Second row McDonnell has also been recalled after a short spell at York City Knights. The 21-year-old played two games for York before suffering a lower back injury.

Here is the full Wigan squad to travel to West Yorkshire later this week:

Look - we don't need big forwards. Our swift, mobile and penetrative backs will...................... er........... hang on.............. perhaps not - time to fake those Covid tests then.

i dont think the Wakey squad will be much better than ours, so could either be an evenly matched game or a quite poor one as neither side has spent that much time playing as a team
