Adrian Lam names the Wigan squad to face Huddersfield Giants in the Betfred Super League.

Oliver Partington, Ethan Havard and Sam Halsall return to the squad.

Huddersfield Giants v Wigan Warriors, Fri 16th July, John Smith’s Stadium, 7:45pm K.O.

Adrian Lam has named the Wigan Warriors squad to face Huddersfield Giants this Friday in Round 9 of the Betfred Super League.

The two sides will do battle for the second time within a week when they meet at the John Smith’s Stadium; Wigan having come out on top last Sunday at the DW Stadium.

Friday’s game is a re-scheduling of their Round 9 clash which was cancelled due to COVID-19 cases in the Huddersfield camp last month.

Team news

Ethan Havard returns for selection after completing his one-match ban last week.

Sam Halsall is included after a spell on loan at Newcastle Thunder.

Jackson Hastings has been handed a Grade A one-match ban (Other contrary behaviour) and is unavailable for selection.

Willie Isa will serve the second of a two-match penalty notice (Grade C, Dangerous Throw) this week.

Injury news

Forward Oliver Partington returns to the squad after missing out on Sunday with a head knock inflicted against St Helens in Round 13.

Morgan Smithies again misses out as he recovers from an ankle injury.

Zak Hardaker is unavailable as he recovers from a neck injury.

John Bateman misses out with an ankle injury picked up while on England duty two weeks ago.

Jai Field remains side-lined with a torn hamstring injury sustained during Round 1 against Leigh Centurions.

Bevan French too continues recovery from a hamstring injury, expected to keep the full back out for the remainder of the 2021 season.

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

i dont think we should be worrying about Field just yet

lets get the lad fully fit before sticking him back in the side. pretty major injury and i think most have written off the season, so lets not write him off by getting him injured again by rushing him back

Can’t see Lam playing Halsall and Hanley. Would go with KPP at centre. Partington at loose with Shorrocks second row. Whatever combination we have it will be a surprise if we score any points in the first half. Unless we kick a penalty goal. Only just scraped it last week. Team playing with very little confidence they look like they don’t expect to score.

Gildart at FB with Hanley at centre
These are two reasons not to trust people.
1. We don't know them.
2. We do know them.

Once again Huddersfield have named a reduced squad and are asking the rugby league for late clearance so if your chairman is the chairman of the rugby league you must be able to disregard the rules once again this is ridiculous and should not be allowed
