Good Article
Re: Good Article
I'm not one to be overly negative, but that stat proves nothing, academy has never been the issue, that's why SL is littered with ex wigan players.
If we had beaten wire/leeds/saints then yeah but they beat (just) a equally depleted Huddersfield side.

These are two reasons not to trust people.
1. We don't know them.
2. We do know them.

Re: Good Article
Yes its a good read but all that good work with the academy will be lost if they are not supplemented with the right experience and coach, and currently thats what is lacking. Hopefully, IL and KR can see that and put it right for next season otherwise we are going to burn these young lads out all for nothing.
Re: Good Article
8 lads under 21 competing at a good level is a good sign, I posted the article to refocus things a little from fans point of views. If we sign the right players in the right positions we won’t be far off.Caboosegg wrote:I'm not one to be overly negative, but that stat proves nothing, academy has never been the issue, that's why SL is littered with ex wigan players.

I don’t think anyone disputes the academy Wigan has but expecting these lads to do a job again and again game after game is going to end up with shortened careers.
Wigan have a duty of care to these lads and I’m sorry I feel certainly this season the youngsters have been asked to do to much as I’ve said many times we don’t know how good these lads could be because they’re being played into the ground I just don’t see this as sustainable and the club needs to see this.

I agree & said it last season about Partington, Havard, Shorrocks & Byrne especially the positions they are playing!fozzieskem wrote: ↑Mon Jul 19, 2021 12:27 pm I don’t think anyone disputes the academy Wigan has but expecting these lads to do a job again and again game after game is going to end up with shortened careers.

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan
