As has been stated, he should have been subbed, told to get a grip and then he could have gone back on.

Agreed, Jobo. The Mirror using "grovelling" is, unfortunately, typical of what passes for journalism these days.

As to Willie being told what to say, all previous indications are that he's a genuine bloke and the apology will be his, and will be sincere.
